Val Gardena, a land of tradition and customs, is the place where the art of wood carving was born in the 17th century. Today Val Gardena boasts an enormous number of wood craft workshops, where the master craftsmen, with great skill and patience, create their works of art entirely and exclusively by hand, still using the tools of the past: the mallet and chisels.
Aldo Monteleone, a native of the valley, brought this art to his workshop in Merano (BZ), where high quality and value handcrafted wooden works are made such as sculptures, high-reliefs or bas-reliefs, both of sacred art and figurative art and profane.
In Aldo Monteleone’s wood workshop, sculptures are also made on commission, customized according to the customer’s requests. The best way to remember Val Gardena and its tradition born in the artisan workshops is to buy a carved wooden sculpture made by the master carvers.
